Booking terms and conditions
Please read these terms before sending your enquiry. By paying your booking fee you agree to be bound by them.
It is the responsibility of the client who books to understand, agree to and be responsible for all booking conditions, including all payments being made by the specified dates.
Booking fees
A booking fee must be paid to secure your wedding or event day. It is deducted from your final invoice. Your date is not secure until the booking fee has been received — no dates are held without one.
Booking fees cover the administration and communication associated with the booking process and are non-refundable under any circumstances. This includes, but is not limited to, a booking or wedding being cancelled due to relationship breakdown, financial or family situations, and unforeseen circumstances including health pandemics, changes to regulations, health warnings, weather events, travel limitations and venue closures.
Bookings
Bookings are subject to availability; please contact Carly to confirm. Bookings are based on the information you provide, so please be as accurate as possible. After the booking fee is paid, invoices will not be reduced. If a member of your party cancels, you are welcome to replace them with somebody else.
If you have a particular schedule, please advise at the time of booking or as soon as possible so Carly can take it into account.
Payments
The client making the booking is responsible for full payment of all services, including if others in the wedding party or group do not pay their portion. The full remaining balance is due 7 days before your booking date. Failure to meet this will result in termination of the booking.
Payment is by bank deposit only. Please allow at least 3 business days for funds to clear; electronic payments that have not cleared before the booking date will not be accepted as payment.
If you have difficulty viewing, receiving or paying an invoice, please contact Carly immediately. Bookings not paid in full by the due date risk termination, and Carly will not provide services on the day. Carly will try to remind you of payment by email or phone. Service will not be provided without payment in full before the day of the event.
Postponements
If you are postponing, your booking fee may be transferred to a new date once only, provided that:
- the new date is within 12 months of the date you request the postponement (for example, if today is 1 April, your new date must be no later than 1 April next year); and
- Makeup by Carly is available on the new date and not already booked for another wedding.
If you are cancelling your wedding, or cannot meet these criteria, your booking fee is non-refundable.
Cancellations and refunds
Please confirm your numbers carefully when booking, as no reductions are offered for makeup services. If someone in your group cancels, they are welcome to be replaced by someone else, such as a guest or relative. Otherwise you will be charged the full amount, as that time has been allocated to you. It is your responsibility to make the other parties aware of Carly’s rates and terms.
Cancellations result in loss of the booking fee. Makeup by Carly does not offer refunds for completed services at any stage. If you are dissatisfied in any way, please tell Carly while she is on location.
Timing
Keeping to booking times is critical to delivering the service you expect, and times will be strictly adhered to. If unforeseen circumstances arise, please let Carly know as soon as practical. Makeup by Carly is not responsible if the desired completion time is not met due to client, group or wedding-party delays.
Carly will confirm her arrival time one to two weeks before the booking. If Carly is delayed by you or your group and is asked to stay longer (where her other appointments allow), an overtime fee of $80 per half hour per artist applies, charged in half-hour increments (minimum $80).
Trials and satisfaction
Trials take place at Carly’s home studio in Palm Cove. Due to the size of the studio, only the bride may attend. Trials are strictly 1.5 hours and are only available to the bride.
Carly guarantees the quality of her products, her passion and her expertise. A trial isn’t compulsory, but Carly encourages it so you can feel pampered, see your look and talk through the details of your day — ensuring your makeup matches your bridal vision and addressing any concerns.
Pricing
All prices are subject to change. If you have already paid a booking fee, you keep the rates invoiced at the time of booking.
Travel and parking
A travel fee may apply depending on distance. Any hotel parking fees incurred because of the booking location are passed on to the client. Parking is required for Carly at the venue; if it isn’t available on site, parking fees will be added to your invoice.
Parking delays caused by the client may prevent Carly from starting on time, completing the full service or attending at all, so please arrange on-site parking.
Extra people
If additional people want makeup on the day without a booking, this is not normally a problem; payment is in cash before Carly starts. Please give Carly notice so arrangements can be made — confirming numbers in advance avoids disappointment if extras can’t be accommodated.
Exclusions
Complimentary junior makeup is for girls aged 12 or younger and includes face moisturiser, eye shimmer, powder blush and lip balm or gloss only. Age-appropriate makeup for girls aged 13 to 15 includes light foundation and concealing, blush, mascara, light eyeshadow, highlighter and lip gloss only. Any other applications are charged at the current per-person or exclusive rate, depending on how you booked.
Full makeup includes the face and neck. Other areas — including but not limited to the back, chest and body — are charged and quoted before application. If tattoo or special coverage is needed, please let Carly know in advance so time and cost can be quoted.
Health and safety
Makeup by Carly is not, under any circumstances, responsible for allergic reactions to products used. Please advise Carly in advance if you or anyone in your group has a known hypersensitivity. If you bring your own familiar product, Carly is happy to use it, but cannot guarantee the quality of products you supply.
To protect Carly, her team and clients, Makeup by Carly may refuse service to anyone displaying contagious symptoms, including but not limited to cold sores, vomiting, diarrhoea or rash.
Other
In the rare event Carly is unable to attend on your booking date, she will make every attempt to find an artist of similar calibre. Only in this situation will the booking fee be refunded or transferred to the new artist. The limit of liability is a full refund of all money already paid for makeup for the affected date only.
Carly does her best to use the same products at your trial and on the day, but some situations are beyond her control, such as a product being discontinued or delayed by the supplier. She will always replace it with something similar.
Clients acknowledge that Makeup by Carly may use photographs or images taken for her portfolio, website and promotions.
